Ant Anstead and Christina Haack’s journey hasn’t always been smooth following their contentious 2020 divorce.
However, the reality TV stars have grown closer than ever, even as Ant continues his romance with Oscar-winner Renée Zellweger.
The father of three recently reunited with his ex-wife on her HGTV series The Flip Off, appearing as a guest judge. Reflecting on their evolving relationship, he shared how their connection has strengthened over the years.
When announcing the episode’s winner—choosing between Christina and her first husband, Tarek El Moussa, alongside his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa—Ant acknowledged their progress since the split.“I initially thought this was about assessing performance, design, execution, and the house itself. But it dawned on me that it was so much more than that,” he said.
“Hudson is five now,” he continued, referring to the son he shares with Christina, born in 2019. “As parents, it took us four and a half years to reach this point, which is honestly shameful. In those years, it’s been incredibly difficult. But everything changed three months ago. Our relationship now is so important, and it’s been a real transformation.”
Christina and Ant married in December 2018 but split in September 2020, leading to a bitter custody battle and years of minimal communication.
Although they were initially granted joint custody of Hudson, Ant sought full custody in April 2022, accusing Christina of exploiting their son for social media engagement. They ultimately settled their custody dispute in 2021—the same year Ant and Renée began dating after meeting on the set of Celebrity IOU: Joyride.
Both moved on, but Christina’s recent split from her third husband, Josh Hall, unexpectedly brought her and Ant back together.
“After Josh and I broke up, I went to Ant’s house to pick Hudson up for a birthday party,” she recalled on The Flip Off. “When I walked up to the door, he gave me a huge hug. We hadn’t hugged in years.”
Ant has also been publicly supportive of Renée during the press tour for Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, frequently celebrating her on social media.
“Midweek movie night with the kiddos… The movie was absolutely brilliant, and the lead actress was mesmerizing and smoking HOT (I have a mega crush on her!). I’ve let the missus know she’s my hall pass… X,” he joked after the film’s premiere.
